Great Northern Rail Trail Closed in Kila

By Mark Crowley, President, Rails to Trails of Northwest Montana, Inc.

July 20, 2017

Kalispell, MT –The Kila portion of the Great Northern Trail will be closed for improvements beginning Tuesday, July 25th or Wednesday, July 26th.  Rails to Trails of Northwest Montana has contracted with Flathead Valley Community College to elevate the trail in front of Kila School and Kila Post Office.  The work will raise the trail to provide handicapped access to the Post Office and eliminate the occasional spring inundation.

Work is anticipated to be completed prior to school opening.  Until work is completed, refrain from using the trail in this area and allow our crews to complete their work safely.  If you have questions, contact the President at (406) 250-0819.

This work is done with support from the Flathead Valley Community College, the Flathead County Economic Development Authority and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
